Dr. Ron Shorr as new Multiple Principal Investigator (MPI)

The UF Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Center is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Ron Shorr as a new Multiple Principal Investigator (MPI). Dr. Shorr brings exceptional clinical and research expertise in aging, with a particular focus on fall prevention and mobility-related outcomes in hospitalized older adults.

Dr. Shorr is internationally recognized for his work on in-hospital fall risk and interventions, and his experience in geriatric care, epidemiology, and pharmacoepidemiology makes him a powerful addition to the Center’s leadership. His involvement directly supports the UF OAIC’s strategic growth in integrating hospital-based clinical insights into our broader translational research mission.

As MPI, Dr. Shorr will play a key role in shaping the Center’s future direction by:

  • Providing geriatric-care expertise to external and developmental projects
  • Opening a novel area of mobility-related research on fall phenotypes and cluster-randomized trials.
  • Mentoring REC and PESC scholars with a focus on hospital-based research design, care process analysis, and intervention implementation.

Dr. Shorr’s commitment to mentoring and translational innovation reflects the Pepper Center’s core mission: to enhance health and independence in late life through interdisciplinary, high-impact research. We are excited to welcome him to the leadership team.
